Who This Training Serves

This program is designed for education professionals who are ready to enhance their advocacy skills through focused training: 


- Intervention specialists and special education teachers 

- Building and district administrators 

- General education teachers involved in IEP and 504 analysis 

- School counselors, school psychologists, and related service providers 


Whether you stay in your current role or collaborate independently with families in the future, this advocacy skills training provides you with a clear, structured framework for ethical, practical, and student-centered advocacy, supported by educational assessments.

What You’ll Learn

Advocacy Skills in Action: Participate in advocacy skills training to learn how to frame concerns, ask the right questions, and keep meetings focused on student needs, without escalating conflict. IEP and 504 Analysis: Engage in practical exercises for reading and dissecting IEPs, 504 plans, ETRs, FBAs, and BIPs to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and missing supports. Understanding Legal Frameworks: Gain a solid understanding of the laws that shape services (IDEA, Section 504, ADA) so you can communicate confidently in meetings and documents. Documentation & Educational Assessments: Build essential skills in writing clear, organized educational assessments and reports that support data-driven decisions for students.

How the Program Works

Program Structure


Format: Live virtual sessions and guided independent practice designed to enhance advocacy skills training.

Materials: Sample IEPs/504 plans, templates, and checklists focused on educational assessments.

Time Commitment: 6 hours of training with [2] live sessions.

Community: Opportunities to connect with like-minded educators who care deeply about student access and equity.


Each participant completes practical assignments that mirror real-life advocacy tasks, such as reviewing a plan, drafting a parent-friendly summary, or outlining key questions for an IEP meeting, incorporating IEP and 504 analysis.

Opportunities After Training


This training is designed first and foremost to strengthen your work with students and families wherever you serve, particularly in developing essential advocacy skills. 


For those who are interested, successful completion of the program may also open the door to:


- Future collaboration with Navigate Solutions as an independent educational advocate, utilizing your expertise in educational assessments, and/or 

- Referral opportunities when families in your region are seeking support, especially for IEP and 504 analysis.
